here's the lo-down on Family Game Nights ....

I believe there are other more fun & engaging ways to help children (and adults) reinforce basic skills besides flash cards & workbook pages. Those have their place too, but playing games with children can aid in the development of children ... both socially as well as educationally speaking. They need and crave that interaction with adults and other children.

To that end, I have developed our Family Game Night Program for schools, church groups, and organizations. I constantly screen games for ease of play, skill levels & adaptations, and that all-important element of fun!

When you schedule a Family Game Night with The Thinking Cap, we provide for you 12 - 20 of the best games in the industry, customized flyers, handouts for the parents, and 2-3 terrific game-players to get the night set-up and started! There's no real "fee" for this service, but I do ask that you purchase $100 or more of the games we're bringing to be used as door prizes. (Because of rising travel costs, a traveling allotment may also apply to locations outside of a 25 mile radius of Butler Township.) Most schools also allow us to sell our games afterwards, but that's not our goal and it's really up to the discretion of your administration.

All you have to do is make copies of the flyer to distribute to your students, round up some volunteers to help demo the games, and reserve a multipurpose room for your Game Night. It's that simple.

The Thinking Cap has offered the Family Game Night Program for over a decade and it has been extremely well received in Western Pennsylvania and Ohio! It fits in beautifully with Title I directives of parent involvement and also makes a fun family night for church groups!
